Can i wear a pad while swimming? ?

ok so im going swiming with my family and one of my friends but i have my period! And i dont want to wear a tampon cuz in my family we dont wear them and also im only 10!! also i would like to have ppl with expirience and tell me thanx!!

p.s i have a somewhat heavy flow but well be in the water for like 30 minutes each time we get in. please help me!!

also if i HAVE to wear a tampon then how can i tell my mom or big sis that i need one??

Same situation except i refuse to wear tampons so i am gonna wear undies and a pad and my swimmin costume! im gonna test the pad by puttin under the tap!!
