  1. i know in california, all of your medical records go to a medical bureau.  if you do not put it on your application as a pre existing condition, they could possibly not pay future claims or cancel your policy.

i would be upfront.  but with pre-existing conditions, they usually bump up your monthly premium.

  2. The Medical Information Bureau does not warehouse your medical records.  They only contain general codes and dates that relate to insurance claims and prescriptions you have made.  There is no specific information about diagnosis or treatment.  For instance there might be a code for "glands" with a date next to it.  This is enough to know if you are lying, but not always enough to know if you are telling the truth.

But when you sign that HIPAA authorization, they can get your full medical records.  Not signing the HIPAA is enough for the company to give you no offer of insurance.

  3. The insurance company has the right and will find out from your medical record if you claim, but what kind of claims are you going to do?  If you are talking about health insurance, they might or might not get your record.

  4. There is a medical data base that they can pull up any type of medical report which includes your record at a private hospital.  That's why its not a good idea to lie about not having medical problems in the past.

  5. Well depends , medical records will only be requested once it was being asked for a certain claim to be processed. It cant be used for other purposes.

What i can advice you coz if you are going to buy an insurance, you are maybe subjecto to a pre existing and for sure they will be asking for medical records, so better to gather them and once they ask then send it to the insurance since the Medical review dept. will review your records. Records can be lost in an insurance place. Trust me. sometimes they just ignore records so better send it again to them only if they ask.

  6. Yes, once you put a claim in, they'll check with MIB, Medical Information Bureau, and find records of the old medical activity.

So if you're asking, are you going to get caught if you lie?  The answer is yes.
