  1. It depends on how much damage and which joint is affected.  Cartilage doesn't regenerate, period.  Bone will heal and remodel, but it won't be as good as it was, plus lacking cartilage allows for increased wear and tear eventually leads to osteoarthritis.

    Stressors such as heavy impact aerobics, working on concrete longterm, over use syndromes will all speed up the development of more joint damage and arthritis.
