  1. Any heating process will destroy the diamond and make it carbon only.

  2. No, it couldn't.  The melting point of diamond is 3550 dgrees C, or 6422 degrees F.  Lava is around 1800 - 2000 degrees F, so it doesn't even come close to the melting point of diamond.

The temperature of lava flow is usually about 700° to 1250° Celsius, which is 2000° Fahrenheit.

  3. Not a chance I would take.  Diamonds, being carbon, can burn.  Typical lava temperatures are a little bit on the low side for burning your diamond, but if there's enough oxygen around they might catch fire.

I guess people are missing the point that it could burn before it melts.

  4. No.  It can form a cast around it though, which I think is kinda cool...

  5. no

  6. a diamond melts at 3820 Kelvin and lava is about 1500 K., so it won't melt the diamond or destroy it.
