I'm in my 20s now but I have learning disability (discalculia). Does anyone know can that affect my handwriting b/c it's always been sloppy ever since I was little kid and sometimes I forget how to write certain cursive letters. I feel embarrassed, no one can read my cursive writing and I get nervous writing in front of people....

  1. Yes indeed. You may have a visual motor processing deficit which means it is hard to get what is in your mind to your hand.

You may also have trouble transferring information from a white board to you hand. Since you have another learning disability, it could very well be that your hand eye coordination is affected.

There is no cure for this, but you can practice using a cursive writing book. This means tracing letters and then forming them on your own. I know it is embarrassing to use a kids book, but this can very well help. You can get free practice pages on the 'Net.

  2. yes, it could make it difficult for you to learn and remember how to make your letters properly, especially under stress.

  3. I don't know if it is a coincidence or not; but others I know with the A.D.D. are terrible writers. Are signatures look like doctors. But one time I decided to try calligraphy and to my surprise I did it neat.  I think it is a matter of our brains and where each thing we do is coming from. I'm a terrible at typing.

  4. learning disabilities can very much cause bad handwriting. You can fix it. here are 2 handwriting programs that you can teach yourself (or have help) that are geared toward kids, but you can buy them and do them yourself.

Both are for kids with learning disabilities.
