Can lemon or lime juice harm your baby or make you have a misscariage?

I'm 6 weeks pregnant and lately i've been craving lemon juice with salt. My husband tell me I shouldnt eat lemon cause it could hurt the baby since it's so sour.

  1. I've never heard of that before.  Who told your husband that?  Too much salt isn't good for the baby, so try not to eat too much of that.  I suggest that you talk to your doctor.


  2. It won't hurt the baby at all. Lemon juice is much less acidic than your own stomach acid, anyway.

    However, you might have a vitamin C deficiency. Humans naturally crave foods that correct nutritional imbalances- if you crave liver, you might be anemic, for instance- so this could be an expression of that. Talk to a doctor about your cravings.

No it is not harmful at all.  Many women crave lemon when pregnant.  It can help with morning sickness and gives lots of vitamin C which you need when pregnant.  Just don't overdo it.  Too much of anything is not good for you.  Too much lemon can rot your teeth and too much salt can cause high blood pressure.

  4. Dilute it by drinking extra water and you will be fine. Go easy on sugar, though, because that can cause problems during pregnancy for many women.
