  1. Burning magnesium oxide is an example of too bright, but only under extended periods. Usually its very hard to damage the eyes from a sudden bright light, you'll just blink to protect yourself. Only sustained bright lights tend to cause prolonged damage. Unless you got hit by lightning and it fried your eyeballs or something...

  2. yes it could really harm your eyes if it is too bright .because the filament inside the lamp is a conductor and it lets electricity in so easily.so the most bright color will come out.sometimes if the lamp is infrared or an average of ultraviolet it could you blind!!!!!!

  3. Whenever you look into something bright, such as lightning or even the sun, especially the sun, the UV light is the thing that damages the eyes the most.  However, long exposures to any light can cause retinal degeneration or strenuous pigment degeneration where if you see a color for a long time, your eyes fatigue and you see the complimentary color.  The same thing can be applied to lightning, so yes, in theory you can permenantly damage your eyes, but more then likely no.  There have actually been cases where people who see lightning close enough damages, their eyes.  However, losing your hearing goes first since large sounds can blow out your eardrum.
