I was reading in a school newspaper that the bacteria on a lions teeth can cause an infection and eventually death if it is not disinfected properly. The logic was that rotting food gets in between their teeth which promotes bacteria growth. In turn if you get bitten the bacteria can spread through your body.

  1. If the bite doesn't kill you the infection will!!

  2. Yeah it's possible you can also be killed from a komodo dragon bite because of bacteria.

  3. Not poisonous in the traditional sense -- they have no venom.

However, a lion bite, like any serious wound can get infected and lead to sepsis and death. Perhaps because the lion is a carnivore its mouth bacteria are more likely to be dangerous. Lions certainly have bad breath, which suggests that they have some nasty bacteria lurking in their mouths.

  4. No, but they can kill you just the same
