  1. get some gasket paper to match the original thickness.  place the paper over one of the mating surfaces.  you can use spray tack to hold it in place.

use a hard plastic mallet to gently tap around the perimeter of the part.  the paper should seperate leaving a fair approcimation of the part.

make sure you do the interior contours.  a ball peen hammer can be used to cut the smaller diameter holes.

  2.   I kow the Permatex guy came to my school once and showed us how they rebuilt an engine using no gaskets what so ever, just their products. So can you use it, sure you can. My experiencece is that sometimes it works perfect sometimes not. Usually I find that you set the liquid (more like toothpaste consistency really) up then wait for it to skin and then assemble. The best option for your application in my opinion wold be to buy gasket making paper. You can get it at any auto parts store. Then make yourself some gaskets, its a much better fit and you know the gasket will be even and contacting everywhere you want it to unlike form a gasket that oozes everywhere and later when you want to rebuild the engine you gotta spend alot of time trying to scrap that stuff off.

  3. rtv high temp orange it comes in the red squeeze tube

  4. you can get gasket material and make your own gasket

  5. You could use the liquid stuff, but its not suggested because it eventually cracks and or leaks., and then your back to square one. The best thing too do is get the proper seal, you may have to search a bit, but you'll find it. You could even take the old one with you and have them cut a duplicate just like it. Problem solved!

  6. The problem with changing from the paper gasket and * anerobic cement is the amount of crush between the crankcase halves when you're finished. The main roller bearings on the crankshaft must have the correct amount of crush or pinch when you tighten the cap screws back up. If you only knew the exact thickness of the paper gasket you may get away with the anerobic cement. In any event the two halves of the crankcase will pinch closer together with the anerobic cement.

I've used anerobic cement on liquid cooled snowmobile motor crankcase halves in the past and it really works well.

  7. I would only use it as a last resort. I would go to my local auto parts store and buy some gasket material and cut out my own gasket before I would use the liquid gasket though.
