i have a pet lizard that keeps vanishing from its cage and reappearing. At least that's what i thought was happening, until i saw it changing to the color of a rock that it was sitting on. I was under the impression that lizards weren't able to change color. Can you tell me whats going on?

  1. no they cant breed most lizards do change their body color but they don't do it to blend into their surroundings they do it to either regulate their body temperature or to show how stressed they are and the same goes with chameleons. chameleons are also color blind so the myth about them changing their body color to blend into their surroundings is not true

  2. They can infact change color.

I have a bearded dragon, and she can get almost as dark as her log.

  3. my bearded dragon changes colors whenever s/he is to cold

  4. there are several species that can change color anoles are a common one but there are plenty of others its do to with mood temperature and  surroundings
