Can long distance relationships work? I'm g*y and really like him?

I met this guy on here, and i think he is brilliant, i would do anything to be with him.

We talk loads and i think he may like me too, i asked him that if i maybe asked him out someday, would i have a chance of him saying yes? and he said yes if i got abit thinner, which he already knew i was doing anyway,

he said he will come stay with me sometime, and im really looking forward to it, we get on really well, and he is all i think about

i want to ask him out now, but he lives in Israel and im in England, would it work? is it worth a shot?
