  1. some time it's much better.

  2. Yes, the amount of wattage a sub can handle has no direct correlation to how they will sound.  A lower wattage sub with higher sensitivity can sound exactly the same as a high wattage sub that has low sensitivity.

I higher wattag sub will usually have a larger magnet, wider voice coil, and special frames which allow them to handle heat better, and will sometimes have multiple spiders and specialized surrounds to improve linearity, which will improve sound quality, but just because a sub has a high RMS, doesn't mean that it will employ these technologies, so it might actually sound worse, because it cannot truely handle the amount of power you are needing to feed it to perform at the same dB level as another sub of lower wattage.

  3. well it kinda all just depends on the brand, your amp and how you taped the amp, Kickers, MTX, and other top brands are reall ythe best, i have 2 15 inch L7 kickers 2,000 watts a pop and so far i haven't met anyone with a louder system, but for instance, theres only 500 watts bettween the L5 and L7 and the L7 isent much any better than the L5, it can just handle slightly lower decibles..

  4. NOPE.

But that's a good way to blow the sub.

    good Luck...

  5. i believe that rms is what you should be concentrating on and how many voice coils the sub has so that you can reduce the ohms to as low as your amp will allow you to go.

  6. The power handling (wattage) of a sub has absolutely nothing to do with how it sounds.  The materials the driver is constructed with, the motor design, etc., and the enclosure you put the sub in  can and will change how a driver sounds.  But the power handling has nothing to do with how they sound.  And absolutely a "lower wattage" sub can sound better then a "higher wattage" sub.
