I have a 2007 chevy malibu that has been pulsating at high speeds when applying the brakes. Can lumpy tires cause the pulsation becasue teh car has a smooth ride but the brakes only pulstae when they are applied. The dealer after 8 or 9 tries says your brakes are okay and he says to pay$800 when the tires have 70% still remaining on them.

  1. Pulsing during braking = warped rotors (not the tires).

    Good Luck...

  2. sounds like a calapsed brake line or warn or warped brake rotors.

  3. I may have a language problem here because I speak English English and am not sure if what you call a rotor is what we call a brake disk.

I had this problem .Paid  $100 nz to have brake disks

    skimmed ,problem  solved.

Lumpy tyres would create vibration in steering.

  4. The most common causes of brake pulsations are warped rotors and contaminated brake fluid. If you've recently had your tires rotated they may have used an air wrench and over tightened the lug nuts. That can often result in warping the rotors. Sometimes it can be corrected by simply loosening the lug nuts and retorqueing by hand. If it still has the same problem have a brake shop check the run out on the rotors. If that is alright then have them bleed and flush the brake fluid. Brake fluid is hygroscopic, meaning it attracts moisture and becomes contaminated over time. Once the moisture is up to 3% it can cause pulsations in the brake pedal. The brakes should be bled and flushed at least every two years.

  5. No....this is caused by your front rotors and if you have less then 12,000 miles they should either machine them for you or just replace them and I see this all the time but what I do for my customers, I will remove the rotor and put it on the brake lathe just to show them that the dealer just doesn't want to fix it..........

Its warranty if under 12,000 miles but the dealer will not make alot just replacing the rotors because the book time is only 0.4 warranty time......

  6. I highly doubt its the tires, but to prove that , just put the ones in the back in the front and try it. If theyre saying its not your brakes, tell them to check your wheel bearings and hubs.  but if it only happens when you apply the brake, common sense says its the brakes, and the rotors , or the hubs could be bad, or the brake pads can be cracked.  Goodluck, its hard to trust people out to get your money so be careful and ask alot of questions.
