Can lyrical dance make you a better dancer?

I have been doing dancing for for 9 years and I just recently been told that lyrical dance will help you be a better dancer for ballet and jazz.

  1. Yes it will because in both jazz and ballet its like your telling a story and in lyrical dancing you have to be able to emphasise with the lyrics


  2. the more dance classes you take, the better you will be. no matter what the class is, you will benifit. so take as many classes as you can. it will also help you to become more versitile. it also helps to take classes from different teachers because you get used to picking up choreography that is'nt what you are used to.

  3. For me it was the complete opposite. I was trained in contemporary/modern and slowly went into lyrical.

  4. Lyrical dance broadens your horizens and helps you become a better dancer period. Lyrical is more expressive then ballet and jazz, but it's great, and I love it. It can help improve your balance for ballet and quickness of moves and other skills for jazz.
