Can magnesium ribbon be used as a fuse?

I would like to know if magnesium ribbon can be used as a fuse or firework.

Magnesium ribbon cannot be used as a fuse in the presnce of air as on passing of electric current it will warm up and burn to form magnesium oxide. it is used in fireworks due to its combusting nature with sparkling light.

Absolutely.  I've personally seen it used as a fuse to light a thermite reaction.
