Hi. Me & my girlfriend are planning to spend a night on Bournemouth Beach and we were wondering if it is safe to sleep there at night having a sleeping bag with us? Is it legally allowed?

Thanks.

  1. No, I think you will find it is illegal to camp out on a beach overnight, partucularly if the beach is council owned. Anyway....having just announced your intentions on this site....you're gonna have quite an audiece keeping an eye open for you!!!!

  2. just do it.

  3. I lived in Bournemouth when i was a kid! I heard of people having parties there and sort of staying there all night so I think it's fine. But maybe ask someone in bournemouth who works in an information centre or would know if its legal? But yeah it should be safe, but i don't think many people do sleep there all night. xx

  4. Technically in England its not legal to wild camp anywhere in England without permission, but if you pick a quiet spot enough spot and keep to yourself you should be fine

Interestingly this and trespassing on private land are by laws not real laws so you cant be prosecuted, as they like to write on the signs, only moved on

If it bothers you its 100% Legal in Scotland, you can take a tent up there and enjoy the beaches and lochs to your hearts content

Personally I would not camp near a large town, I would want somewhere more out of the way.

The closer you are to towns the more chance you have of being disturbed

  5. i have been to bournemouth beach and the sea is pretty rough so i doubt you wopuld get any sleep anyway, isn't there a sheap hotel on the front?

bournemouth is a really nice place :)

i don't think its legal and its probably not safe for when the tide comes in

i suppose you could just say you were watching the sea come in and out, i bet loads of people do it

and thinking about it, the beach i used to go to didn't have a front so i suppose its the only way you can

  6. dunno, but take plenty of condoms

  7. i think u may be moved on if the police see you or charged with public order offence
