Can mechanics use today's power tools on older 1950s and 60s planes or do they have to use unpowered tools?

  1. Then again, think about it for a minute.

    The airplane itself doesn't know if you're loosening a bolt by hand with a wrench, or a nut runner.

    Both my Mom and Dad built the Dauntless during WWII(back in the 40's), and use power tools, such as drill motors and rivet guns.


  2. If it's the appropriate tool for the job, why not.

  3. "Today's" power tools have been around since the beginning of the 20th Century.  They have always been used for working on airplanes, and so have hand tools.  It depends on what tools you have, and what you need to accomplish.

    A bolt is a bolt, whether it was made in 1928 or 2005.

  4. No  no   every type of planes have their on particular tools  for very deep  mechanics in the planes. Old  planes have  low technology  so man power is more needed.
