  1. Meditation is the process of giving body and mind a total relax at conscious state, where as sleep is the same at unconsious state. Sleep is the most essential thing to have at the end of day. With out it one is going to have his worst health. Health will collapse with out sleep.

    Meditation clears all sorts of stress, but does not replace a sleep :-)

    Meditate for focused minds and sleep for better health :-)

Lack of sleep itself won't kill you; however, prolonged sleep deprivation (i.e. for several days or more) can lead to decline in motivation, hallucination and even paranoia.  It also results in the body being more susceptible to infection/illness, as the immune system is weakened after prolonged lack of sleep.  

    And meditation can't replace sleep.  Some research has suggested it's effective for pain management, and some people have reportedly meditated for days--but it's not the same as sleep.

  4. You can replace sleep with meditation, there are techniques to do so.

    Sleep is nothing but giving rest to the body and mind and that can be achieved through meditation.

    If not completely replace sleep you can reduce the number of hours you sleep everyday.

    There are mystics in India who have not eaten food, drank water or slept for years together, they do this by living off an element in the air called 'Prana'.

    Research it on the net.


  5. No. The body will eventually take the sleep. People that have gone long times without sleep will stop, freeze, and the body "steals" sleep. Eventually sleep depreivation, especially if forced, will drive a person insane.

    The mind and body need sleep.

    One thing is not a substitute for another thing.

    By doing meditation we will get relaxation and happiness. It is not equal to sleep.

    Creaters require sleeping but creator will not sleep.

    At lease 4 to 6 hours we should sleep.

    Sleep disorder will creates depression,anxiety and confusion.

    I thing meditation will help for sound and calm sleep as well.
