Question:

Can men take credit for anything as long as patriarchy exists?

I have seen several people claim that women who advance in their careers do so illegitimately so long as affirmative action exists. Aside from the fact that females do better in school and graduate from college in higher numbers, the unfair advantage of affirmative action males any advances women make appear illegitimate.

Does not this logic also apply to men in patriarchal cultures? Can men really take credit for anything they have "achieved" so long as the system is designed to cripple and control women?

  1. if youre trying to uderstand how you keep getting these answers from people who obviously cant see whats all around them.... i would advise you to think of a fish, and ask yourself this... if a fish is never removed from the water in which it lives... will it ever understand that it lives surrounded by water?

  2. Don't know. Ask them. :)

  3. Women are kicking our ***. It's a fact. I'm cool with it. It's kind of s**y actually.

  4. No one can take sole credit for any achievement.

A person can have all the requirements for success in their personality. But if society doesn't give them an inch or let them catch the slightest break, it may all come to nothing.

  5. I don't know about that, it seems too anti-men. Just as women have made it on their brains and talent, some men have also made it on brains and talent without a leg up from patriarchy.

I totally agree with you about affirmative action though. If affirmative action for women didn't exist people would just say women advanced in their careers because they had s*x with their boss. Misogynists will always make up some reason for why a woman couldn't have possibly succeeded with only brains, talent and determination.

  6. Considering I was never asked to be part of the patriarchy, yes I will take credit for my own advances. Thank you very much.

  7. I would just say this. Men, since the dawn of time, have worked, killed, been killed and maimed to progress this world. In true sense, in pre-civilized times, woman was property that men were to protect at all costs, even with their lives. Because, physically they were not able to fend for themselves or hunt.

So, its easy in today's world with technology and metropolis to speak of these topics. When people have no idea or inclination to know where their food comes from. When police protects their home and military their nations. Smart questions like this will disappear the day after the 3rd world war. Or simply when civilization dies down, soon enough it seems.

To answer the question, No the logic would not apply. This world is built, inch by inch, by our fathers and brothers. Men. Women have their share and we are glad to acknowledge that. But we take full credit for where we stand today. When we apply for job, or dodge a bullet for our country; we are not judged by our s*x.

  8. No, but some of these guys sure are determined to make sure men get credit for inventing whatever is around them whether they deserve it or not.

  9. Poor argument...

Men have worked hard since the beginning of the human race to earn their way to the position of power, to built and to create.

Women on the other hand, are given affirmative action, special perks, special pass and "leg up" over men.  Now THAT'S unfair.

The "oppressive patriarchy" is nothing but a mere chimerical construct made up by feminists so that they can play the victim and further their victimology.

  10. Obviously, if they're competing against men.

I don't know too many men who take credit or pride in  surpassing women.

    Men generally compete with men.

  11. hmmm that's strange, I thought the patriarchy died out at the very least 30 years ago.

I was under the impression we were now just fighting against our own self-made set backs and those few people who actually lived with an 1800's mentality.

  12. Your argument makes sense. I don't think it cheapens the achievement of men indivdually, but the achievements of men and women cannot be compared if women were not given the chance for the same accomplishments.

  13. I say as long as you get to where you want to be who cares how you do it. I'm not saying be immoral or try to s***w other people to get what you want, but if an opportunity comes your way take it and enjoy it. Who cares what the haters say about you?

  14. Excellent question. Only when the system is 100% meritocratic do men and women have a chance at legitimate equality.
