Question:

Can men use women's golf clubs?

I bought a full set of Golden Bear G-12x (graphite) clubs today, not realizing that they are for women. The driver is 44" long. The shafts feel pretty loose. I really like the clubs and, most importantly, the price was right! So, can I use them properly? Are they more likely to break? Will I get bizarre results? I am 5'9", above-average strength, and male, obviously. My pointer finger is 3" long and my palm is 4" long. I haven't used them yet so I do have the option to return them. Thanks for your opinions.

  1. There's no reason why can't use them if you're comfortable with them but at 5'9" you might find that they are a bit too short once you use them and then you could be losing a bit of distance. You could just test one short iron and one long iron at a driving range and see how they feel. There'll be no signs that they were used if you decide to change.

  2. If the golf clubs feel right for you and you are comfortable using them, then what does it matter if they are women's.

Like womens bikes, they are designed to be slightly lighter, and in a golf club's case, designed with slightly less power.  But unless you are a professional golfer (in which case you would have had a set of custom clubs made for you), they should perform more or less in the same manner.

If you don't feel happy or comfortable with them, and you haven't used them then you might want to take them back!

  3. The short answer is that you should see a golf professional to get fitted for the clubs that suit you the best. There are so many options of clubheads and shafts nowadays that everyone should be able to find the best match for their game.

The longer answer is that women's clubs are generally a bit shorter and lighter than men's clubs, so if you're a taller woman, I can see where you might be told that you might wish to use men's clubs, but there is more to the story than that.

Women's clubs are lighter not only because the shafts are a bit shorter, thus carving a bit of weight off there, but the clubheads themselves are a little lighter. This is done in order to allow the average woman more clubhead speed - more clubhead speed means more energy at impact with the ball means the ball goes further.

If you can generate the same clubhead speed with the heavier men's clubs that you currently do with your women's clubs, then a switch would likely be in order, and this may be the case, given that you already use a men's driver. If you can't swing the heavier clubs as well, then you'll want to stay with your current clubs, but you'll probably want to have longer shafts put on them to account for your taller stature.

  4. You can use them, but the shafts will be way too flexible for you.  You will be spraying the ball all over the place.  Return them

  5. if hes a bisexual person

  6. I HIT A LADYS THREE WOOD,225 AND STRAIGHT AS A STRING... BUT A WHOLE SET IS SOMETHING DIFFERENT, I WOULD SEND THEM BACK!!!

  7. yes if they have female characteristics

  8. The only reason they say womens clubs is that we are normally shorter on average than men, but if you feel comfortable using them then what does it matter, I would say that you would have to try them out first though and see how you go, if they arent working out, have them cleaned properly and return them and get a different sort, hope that helps, goodluck! :)

  9. Sure you can use them. The main differences are the length of the clubs and the smaller diameter of the grip, both contributing to lesser weight. If you feel comfortable with those differences then go ahead and use them, you're not going to break them. However, if your scores start to improve you can point your 3" pointer finger at your golfing buddies and say "I told you so"!

  10. Hi,

Yeah you CAN use women's golf clubs...but

The design of women's golf clubs takes into account the variations in body morphism and varying shifts in the centre of gravity during the swing.

Unless your at pro level though, you probably won't be able to tell the differences.

What it will do though is make you the butt of many golfing jokes among your golfing buddies.
