  1. You don't need anything to stop the abuse= just stop= it's so cool when you do== As for methadone, i think that is used for herion, just to get normal= so they say== try the 1 step at a time program== 1st step you have to want to stop= at any rate never mix the two==try a local clinic for the story told better==

  2. Methadone is for Heroin, morphine & coedine addicts not for Alcohol abuse.

    Alcoholics go to AA

  3. No. The reason is the area of the brain effected by each disease is different. Alcohol effects Gaba & Glutamine receptors in the brain whereas Opiates effect Dopamine. Methadone works by effecting Dopamine only which is why it doesn't work for alcoholics. The only drug that I am aware of for alcohol treatment is Antabuse which makes the person violently ill if they drink after taking it. However, studies show it is not very effective because the person can just avoid taking it when they have the urge to drink.

  4. No methadone is specific to heroin as it is an analogue of heroin, so it works on the same receptors in the brain to quell the cravings without the high that heroin gives you.

It would not work for alcohol as alcohol addiction is different at the cellular level.

  5. I don't know about alcohol. But its commonly used for recovering herion addicts. Ask your doctor.
