Mine do it all the time. I built a box that fits behind the second seat in my Dodge caravan & rubberized the inside of it. When I get ready to go somewhere, I put the box in it with some shavings and lift them into it from the back. They  ride from new Orleans to Atlanta & back all the time.

One thing to remember is horses get nervous when riding & they will pee & c**p.. BUt mine love to ride. They stand in their box & look out the window & freak out the other drivers. They will lay their heads on the back seat & talk to me while we travel
