Can modeling help you become an actress?

Question

Alot of people say I should model and my mom said she would call some people. I was just wondering if by modeling, would that somehow help me become an actress?

I think it helps you gain exposure, but it seems like they tend to keep the two industries separate for the most part (there's always the exceptions -- like Gisele Bundchen in Taxi with Queen Latifah).  I think it's like anything else in that it has a lot to do with being in the right place at the right time.  I think many people get their shot at acting that way.  Also, getting into being extras in movies would get you noticed, too.

take classes and participate in plays and build up your resume! and get headshots done and get an agent!
