Can mosquitos breed in moist ground/dirt?

I know they can breed in standing water, but I have searched my entire property and there is NO standing water anywhere. I do have irrigation though, and my backyard is pretty moist in some areas.

  1. Moist dirt - no but it takes very little standing water for them to breed.

  2. if you are meaning because you have a mosquito problem they must be breeding on your property, no.  Just shady and moist areas in a yard will invite mosquitoes to wait out the day until nightfall and even in the middle of the day if you disturb them from these areas they will swarm and bite you.
