  1. NO! NO! NO!!!
An MP3 file CANNOT contain a virus!
    No way.
Everyone here is mistakenly thinking that because a file that looks and seems like an mp3 can contain a virus that a true mp3 can also.
    It can not.
A virus has to be like a program, an executablwe file. An MP3 is not. Therefore clicking an MP3 file CANNOT cause any program or virus to run, therefore you cannot get infected from an MP3.
The problem is that it is very common to name a file so that it looks like it is another filetype than what it truly is.
    for example..
If you have windows running as it is by default, to hide known file extensions, then when you download a file that has been named like so:
    Pretend music file.mp3.exe
then in your windows you will only see part of the name and the last part is hidden by windows. so the filename You see is...
    pretend music file.mp3
So you think it is an mp3 and you click it.
BAM! The exe you just clicked was indeed a virus and you just got infected.
This is the way that supposed 'mp3 files' infect people.  the fact is it is not an mp3 file and if you learn just a little about your PC and especially filenames and extensions you will NEVER fall for such a lame and easy to spot trick!
You need to set windows to 'show all file extensions' you can easily do this by following the guide here:
