Question:

Can music die?

Flickering Song

Snow whispered,

singing.

pianissimo,

almost silent,

hovering over me,

burial shroud,

Gaea's gift.

Lying there

in the elements

purer than I

have ever been,

purer than my music,

glistening like tears

I never shed.

The only darkness there

is you,

for I am clean now,

washed by scarlet snow,

cleansed by your

steel hand.

You erased my song,

you soaked the earth

with my melody.

Remorseless, you kissed me

with nightshade lips.

Skies thundered,

forte, forte.

Glory in my defeat a moment,

for you cannot ignore

damnation.

Your punishment...

sing for me.

  1. Yes

  2. Voca me con benedicte.

  3. Beautiful poetry,

and yes, the music died in a plane crash many years ago, and in a plane crash years before that, and in a car crash years before that.  Music has never been quite the same since each tragedy.  Hank Williams, Buddy Holley, Richie Vallens, The Big Bopper, and Patsy Cline.  There have been more, but these always come to the forefront of my mind when I think of the music dying.

  4. Music will always be...perhaps only in the mind of the listener...

    but there, nevertheless.

  5. Music saves 9, in some odd time.

    Music frees souls,

    everytime.

    ty for YOUR song...

    the question ?

no, i think music keeps playing

    going forward and forward..all types.

  6. No music never dies, but a heart can forget how to sing.

  7. yes or no or (idk) thats a good question

  8. This story is compelling and the poem is very beautiful.  The actions in the third stanza are implied but vivid, mortal and immortal. The punishment for this crime is to sing for the victim, so therefor the music does not die but is forever changed, and something powerful is lost.  I love this.  Thank you.

  9. If you heard me sing, as least you might want me as an accompanist only!  lol  This is well said.

  10. Heh Le sigh What am I going to do with you Miss Eva? You're a hopeless romantic..as in there is no hope for your romantic side
