Can my 12 year old take a cough syrup with Claritin-D Redi Tabs?

she got a stuffy nose the other day and now she has drainage in her throat, causing her to cough. the claritin is 24 hour stuff, so she can take another one of them at 12 pm tomorrow. but if she starts a coughing fit in the middle of the night, can she take a cough syrup safely?

most defiantly just as long as the instructions clearly state what age its intended for

for example Children 12 and over take 1 tablespoon, Children under the age of 2, please consult with a doctor etc.
