At Walmart they have these baby cookies they are called mum-mums or something like that. They have one that says "baby" on it and others say "toddler" ...can my 6 month old eat these? He has 2 bottom teeth.

  1. it all depends on what you have been giving your baby to eat so far.  OBviously cookies are not the best food to be giving a baby.

Look up baby led weaning for advice on feeding solid food from 6 months. I did this with my son and never had to resort to puree mush.

  2. What I've read on the cans for those and other treats is that they need to be able to crawl up on their hands and knees basically before you can give it to them.  And cookies like that don't melt as easily, so I would wait.

What we've liked have been the gerber fruit-puff things.  They melt COMPLETELY.  It is so easy for her to eat that she was eating those while she was sitting but unable to crawl and I didn't feel like it was dangerous (though I DID keep a firm eye on her...)  We also gave her some madarin orange at that point (not very citrusy and they're peeled so you can pull them apart.)  Banana is good too, broken into small pieces so baby can chew it but not choke.

Edit:  Heh, yeah.  We did the same.  Starting on solids at 4 months and then working towards more solids now.  She chews with her gums and can handle just about anything that mushes.  Really though, we tried a "teething biscuit" and it just didn't work out yet.  The gerber melt-away things are working for when she wants to chew on something more substantial.  Or else like canned pears, mandarin oranges, peaches, etc.  Break them into little pieces and she loves them.
