  1. Absolutely. Live frugally but not a tight purse string.

  2. in HCM city from $500 ~ over $1000 is ok for 1 week !

    abt **hotels from 30~35$/ day

    Eat              from 10~15$/day

    other           from  10~20$/day

                      --------------------------

    TOTAL       from  350~ 490$/ week

That is general fee....Remember to bargain as above 2nd friend told you. In center with street's selling should go from half price then up ... specially in BEN THANH market ( the biggest market sure you will go....they triple up the price .... :-SS )

    Enjoy in your trip ;)

  3. $1000 will definately be enough.  Just pick some moderately priced hotels ($30-$40) and don't go to high priced restaurants.  You'll also be able to do tours, try Sinh Cafe, they have some good, low-priced tours.  You will have a great trip.

  4. i suppose u could. 30 buck a day 4 hotel. go to hotels.com and find a affodable one in district 1( center of the  city). when buying stuff on the street or from swap meet , or every time u buy stuff that the seller is self-employed ( not work 4 a shop, a store or a super market) prepare to bargain. usually if the price that they ask is 10 buck then u should end up with the final price of 7 or 8 buck at most. if not then walk away, usually they will call u back. if u are a foreigner, then eat in retaurant where u can see the price before u eat. do not eat on the street ot u end up pay more than u have to. this happen event if r vietnamese so dont suprise.

  5. I don't honestly know, but I thought I may offer the tip that if you're unsure if you'll have enough cash, eat where the locals eat, eat what the locals eat, avoid restraunts like the plauge and you'll save a ton of money just about anywhere.

  6. $1000 US should be just about right for a great week in SaiGon.  I really think you will get by on not as much; but always nice to have extra and not run short.  Have a good time.  Cheers
