Can my boss fire me for no reason, employee at will?

My probation period has been extended for three months. My evaluation listed all the things I was not taught during orientation, because it does not relate to my role. When I reminded my boss I nor my peers have been taught this, she continued my probation anyway. She has told me I am not doing anything wrong, my job is eclectic and evolving. She keeps reminding me that I am on probation.

One of my co-workers told me that the person who left my position wants to come back after the summer. SInce then two other people have mentioned this to me. I am in a professional role, my company does have policies regarding poor performance which my boss has not followed, but by keeping me on probation, this keeps my job in limbo for the other person should she return.

Can I be fired for no reason?

  1. YES

  2. I worked for a place that told me my boss could get rid of me for any reason they wanted, including having blue eyes if they decided that way. Employment at will: you can leave when you want, they can get rid of you when they want.

  3. Yes, your boss can and will fire you for no reason at all. As more and more companies are getting into the at wil statements approved by the feds, there is no legal way to securely file a lawsuit for getting fired.

It is just the changing company. it isn't you. Stuff happens like this all the time and no one can do anything about it other than the executive people. My advice is to immediately put out apps for more job and when you get another hit, you should not have a problem getting fired.

It's what i did. As soon as i got fired, i got snatched up for another job, over and over, and over again.
