Can my boss legally fire me just because she wants to?

I think my boss is going to fire me, but I don't know why. is she allowed to just let me go because she feels like it?

  2. It depends on where you live, I live in an "at will" state I have literally been fired for looking at the clock, 10 minutes before start time, I was asked to do something and I inadvertently looked at the clock, and was let go with no explanation later that week.

It depends on the laws in your state.  In Washington, the laws are such that it is an "At Will" state and people can be fired without reason, as far as I'm aware.  People are allowed to be fired with just an explanation that things aren't working out, there isn't a need for the employee, or such.  There would still be problems if a reason was given such that it could be argued (like the reason was something irrelevant or illegal).

  4. Depending on if you have a contract, she can fire you at will. That you don't get along with your superiors (her) is a reason.
