My brother is 26 yrs old and father of two.He has had bad eyesight all his life.He recently had his hopes built up and was told he might get lazer eye surgery. After having the tests done he was told they can not help him. They said he could have contacts but they would be as thick as sea shells and the option himself said he would not put them in his eyes. They said he has rugby ball shaped eyes and also his prescription was too bad. They then said well there is one thing that can be done and that is a full cornea replacement. I just think they were thinking money.I would appreciate any help if you can give some information,I would love to find that he can have something done he is my kid brother and I want his sight to improve as would anyone..

  1. There are some eye conditions that cannot be corrected with eyeglasses or laser surgery.

For instance, with the condition called keratoconus (which I have), the cornea is too thin for laser surgery.  This particular condition is only correctable with RGP contact lenses (Rigid Gas-Permeable lenses), or in more severe cases, with a cornea transplant.

It is quite possible that they were honestly looking out for your brother's eye health, and not just digging for money.

I found the hard RGP lenses to be extremely uncomfortable, so I have just  learned to live with crummy vision.

  2. yh iv just turned 14 and do u no what I HAVE STOPPED WEARING MY GLASSES! WOOO

it feels incredible coz i been wearing them for 5 years. my prescription was -5.25 and i was doing these exercises and my eyesight is now perfect within 2 and a half years

the reason not many have heard about it is because the optical industry is trying to cover it up otherwise a huge chuck of the economy will go up in smoke

u can wear contacts anytime after ur 12 in the u.k i think but the younger u r the irritatating it is

  3. Laser eye surgery is never going to correct everyone's sight problem. Personally I have worn glasses all my life, and while they can be a nuisance, they are perfectly safe and will not harm my eyes, which contact lenses and/or laser surgery might. The only reason your brother might need corneal replacements would be if he had had a disease or injury which left corneal scarring. Corneal replacement is not laser surgery - it involves having the corneas - the outer surface of the eye - removed and replaced by corneas donated from dead people. If your brother can see well with glasses, he should probably be grateful for his sight. I'm not being flippant, lots of people can't see clearly even with all the best aids available. If he is one of these people, his best bet is to consult his doctor - he should be entitled to free treatment on the NHYS.

  4. i think the best thing to do is to get a second or even a third opinion on laser eye surgery.  my sister recently had it and she's never had anything negative to say about it.

  5. AMANDA, I have got good news for you altho I do not know where you are because you all have this bad habit to be asking for help & do not say where you all are. I look on that as very silly but here is your ans.

Where ever you are, you & your Brother should go to the Quban's Embasy & explained to them & they will get your Brother to Quba and

give him his site back,u have said those people were talking MONEY & you are correct, so I am telling you not to think MONEY @ this moment just get your self to the people's Embasy and speak with them, & get your Brother's site back OK. Sorry you could not let me know what happen when you go there altho I know, but I would just

like to the progress as you go along OK.

GOOD LUCK TO YOUR BROTHER'S SITE

  6. He could check into this.  I can't think of what they're called but they're basically contact lenses that are placed just under the cornea.  They can be replaced if the person's vision changes.

  7. a lot of research goes on every day to find ways, test drugs etc.. into improving peoples vision, with me personally i have nystagmus, which means my eyes move from side to side, now i will never be able to drive a car, and am not able to do a lot of other things, however, the team at leicester university hospital are trialling drugs to try and reduce the movement in peoples eyes, wether it will work or not remains to be seen

my point i'm trying to get across is that one day somebody somewhere will think of something....so just keep your fingers crossed.

  8. I think he should go for a 2nd and 3rd opinion but the problem is that if one place already told him he's not a good candidate for lasik, they might have said it because they are being responsible and don't want to mess him up.  Another place might tell him sure, we'll do you, just pay us and he ends up with complications.  That's why he needs a 3rd opinion so if 2 out of 3 say no, then he shouldn't do it.

It's very likely that technology will improve in the future.  In a few years, maybe he will be a candidate for some type of new technology.  Until then, he can minimize the thickness of his glasses by getting extra thin lenses and small frames.  More expensive but way nicer.

  9. I can't answer this but I logged on to this to see If anyone could help, good luck with your quest.

  10. i think he should try a different options.

these things happen to me they are just taking advantage i would advise optical express. If you aready tried then browse the internet.

check about the best 3 out 5 if they all say the same thing then the first one was probably correct
