Can my brother from Peru send me $5,000USD through western union each time till I get $500,000USD?

My brother in Peru won the lottery totaling $2million USD and he wants to send me some money in order to help me and my family here in the US.

Would it be legal for him to send me $5,000USD through western Union for 100 times totaling $500,000USD?

The Western union fees would be very high.  A bank transfer would be far better.  He needs to talk to his bank about this.  And you will need to talk to your bank about setting up an appropriate account for this money...you will actually need several accounts since  you cannot put more than 100,000 in any one account and still have it protected by fdic insurance.

The best way would be to open an account on a bank that offers you the best service for taking your money to the USA. I think Hapualim Bank is one of them, it's the first choice for goverment "Big Shots" to take money to the US.

I can see that some contributers are exceptical or never heard of Hapualim Bank. Well for their information, The President of the ministry coucil during the Fujimori goverment, Victor Joy Way, is purging 8 years in jail for corruption and his banks accounts are being investigated. Guess what? his accounts are in Hapualim Bank!

it would be safer and much cheaper to send it by bank transfer (bank to bank), federal limits may apply, check with your bank
