Can my car be repossessed when I have the title?

I bought a car had oral agreement to make payments paid in cash no receipts were given to me. Had the bill of sale for full cost of car but had lost it. I have the paper title with no liens on the title. Is the dealership able to repossess my car???

Only if you have not paid in full. Keep that title because if they do repo the car, i don't think they can sell it without the title. Check your state dmv. However, if you did pay all your payments and they repo the car, tell an officer or take them to small claims court. WHY did you not get receiptss??? Always always getreceiptss!!! Oh yeah, is the title in your name, it'll help you in small claims. Good luck!  And no more oral agreements. Always keep yourself a paper trail!!

I dont think they can because the title proves you own it. i would try and get a copy of the bill of sell or find it. you should be ok tho

if the title is in your name, and you have no liens against the title, it is yours, and nobody else can claim rights to it except for the IRS.  If it isn't in your name, and you challenge rights to it, the legal title holder may claim it as stolen.  .

Moral of the story.... make sure it's your name on the title and pay your taxes.

if the title is in your name with no lien then the dealership probably can't do anything.

If they do take it, that is called theft by taking. If they have a problem with you & your payments, then they need to take you to court and settle this like men. Short answer, no. It's your car, you own it, and you can prove it.

First of all, if this is my cousin who made the deal with me, you better not have it reposessed!! If you are having problems let me know.  Other than that, if this is in someone elses name, on their credit then please dont have it repossessed.  But I really dont know if they can.  You have the title but the car company obviously has the paper work.  I would truly like to hear the answer to this one.  But if you are LeAnna, do not do this to me!!!!!
