On 2nd day of practice her feet were cramping badly.coach looked @ her feet and said "no arch" and shell be unable to play any sports, basketball, track. Is this for real? Isn't there something we can do to make her feet not hurt.Like just practice more an get her feet used to the movements?

  1. She can still play those sports but will not be as good as she would be with an "arch". It just simply means you don't run as fast as you would with the arch. It is fine, she can still play. Tell her to keep doing what she is doing. I know someone with "flat feet" and she is faster than me! and I have an arch.

  2. It will just be more of a challenge. If she wants to continue with sports, you should provide her with shoe insoles. It elevates and provides comfort to the heel and arch. My brother had "flat feet" to and the doctor suggested to buy him a pair of custom make shoe insoles, and now he loves to play basketball all the time. Another sport that people with no arches are good at is swimming. Maybe she can try that.

  3. yes she can. it would just make her feet hurt faster than the other players, especially if she runs a lot during practice...

i know what you are talking about... i have flat feet and play volleyball. if it is something she really loves, she would continue with the sport even though her feet ache.  playing a sport with flat feet shouldn't cause injury to your daughter.

my advice is to either put supports in her shoe or push through the pain and in time she would be able to cope with it.

  4. Of course, she ca play, just not as good as the other players.  Can't you put a foot pad or something the was advertised on tv???? You know, those soft cushion things that you put under your foot in your shoe???
