Every time I eat, and food gets in between my teeth, it hits the nerve and hurts. I probably need a root canal, but I have braces and I don't get them off soon. Is there anything my dentist can do?

  1. You should really discuss this with the doctor instead of asking here.  Nobody here knows what your particular dentist can do (or can't do).

  2. Have you brought this up to your orthodontist and/or dentist?  I ask because if you aren't quite sure what is causing the tooth sensitivity, you may need another look at those X-Rays to be sure they didn't miss something.  If it's not a cavity, it could be that the braces are making your mouth overly-sensitive, in which case either Dentist or Orthodontist will recommend Tylenol or Advil.  If it is a specific tooth, definitely call and mention that, just in case.  Also, I HIGHLY recommend a WaterPik Ultra to clean in between your teeth.  Use it as often as you can.
