Can my doctor tell how far along i am by my hcG level?

If my calculations are correct i am approx. 8 weeks pregnant but my doctor told me that i won't go for an ultrasound until i am 16 weeks.Will he be able to tell me how far along i am by my hcG level?

I'm not sure, I've always gotten a sono right at the beginning and then at 5 months.  Maybe see if they can give you a sono now to see how far along you are...I wouldn't be able to wait that long.  I know it sounds terrible but you could tell them that you are having horrible cramps on one side or that you spotted or something.  Good luck!


  2. i'm not sure if they can tell by the hcG levels.

    with both my kids my OB originally predicted my due dates by asking about when i got my last period.

  3. They can give you an estimate but hcg ranges are very wide so that is not a good way of telling you how far along you are. The best way is by last period and ultrasound.

  6. No they can't, because the range of levels is so huge that there is no way to pinpoint it.

    The ultrasound will be able to measure the baby and give a relatively accurate estimate (within about a week or two at most in either direction of the estimated due date).
