My Border collie has been on heat for 25 days and I want to go camping this weekend with a friend who has a choc lab with all the 'gear'. If they did shag what would be the chances of her becoming pregnant this late in season. She is not bleeding anymore, only large v***a.

thanks

  1. The chances are probably still pretty strong.  Both dogs need to be fixed. Remember Murphy's Rules!  If something can go wrong, it will. -!-

  2. a female alows a male to take and tie with her within the last week of her heat cycle..she normally is stopping her bleading or has already stoped bleading in this stage..If she alows him to tie with her then absolutly she will get pregnent as she is still accepting him...i would not recomend her to tag along unless you protect her from him till you know for sure she wont let him mount her and tie...you can buy a washable jean doggie diaper to help protect her from him..I use them inbetween my breedings and it does help out as he can not get through the materiel....but like any male they will do anything to get a intact,in season bi**h who lets him mount...

  3. maybe you could take her but take a cage with her for night time. Or leave her behind.

  4. Unless you want to spend your entire weekend trying to separate the two, because an unfixed male will do anything to get at a female in heat, you'll spend all your time keeping them apart boy that sounds like fun...NOT.  She should have finished her heat by now, it usually only lasts 21 days, but I just wouldn't take that chance.

Get her fixed and you won't have to worry about this anymore.  You're not doing her any favors by not spaying, the older she gets the more her chances of getting cancer increase when she's unspayed.

  5. Don't waste your money on the dog unrewear-The Male will just rip them off her :-)

  6. First dogs are usually in heat for 14 days sometimes 16 if your dog was actively bleeding for longer you should have her check could be health problem. Your dogs heat does not sound normal so I would not recommend bring her around an un-neutered male. Normal dogs will stop bleeding around the 13-14 day but can still get pregnantate up to the 16th day.

  7. please spay her ASAP.  right now we dont need too many more accidental puppies because of all the animals in shelters who are getting put down because there arent enough homes for them.

  8. There is still a possibility that she can get pregnant. If you and your mate want to put your dogs together, you can purchase "dog underwear" that the ***** can wear while she's on heat so the male can't "get some"

  9. While she is in heat she can get pregnant.

why not get her neutered and you'll never have to think about this again!

  10. hard one - I DO know of a litter conceived on day 26 (single puppy) However there can be some lingering swelling for several days after the heat during which usually there can't be a litter

and in addition this is only Tue.... so by weekend she SHOULD be out more......

PROBABLY safe but not for sure....
