Question:

Can my employer force me to keep insurance if I want to cancel and we are the only two on the policy?

I work for a small company and if I cancel, her policy will automatically cancel but I can't afford the coverage. What can I do to get out of the policy. There is no sense to continue to work there if I still can't pay my bills because my coverage cost too much. I'm not locked in any contract because I already contacted the insurance company. What should I do???

  1. Tell your boss that unless the company starts paying the premium that you cannot afford then you will have to cancel the insurance.  But start looking for a new job.

  2. You have to wait until open enrollment period.  Then you can cancel.

Then she can fire you, and hire someone else that will take the insurance.
