Can my ex-husband have the courts order us to meet halfway if he moves?

My ex is moving from oklahoma to colorado. I have full-custody of our child and recently got consent to move to kansas and he meets us halfway, which is 2.5 hours drive. He is getting a better job and is moving to colorado and told me he will take it to court if he has to, to get me to meet him halfway. which is 6 hours... halfway... I won't have to since i am the one with custody correct?

  1. Wrong.  You will absolutely have to do whatever needs to be done for your ex to have visitation with his child.  Any hesitation from you or actions that may indicate you are trying to keep your child from the father, will look very bad to a judge---who really is like god when it comes to your private legal matters.  Be careful and always act like (even if you don't feel like it) you want your child to see the father.  If you don't, the judge could give him longer visitation, give him custody, or make you move closer.  You always have to look like you want to do what is legal.

  2. i have custody and the court ordered me to share every trip  from florida to california.. (he picks up and i go out to make the return, several times a year.)

..but you can have the visistation changed to longer periods, less frequently due to travel time)

  3. Nope..up to the courts how it is worked out.....Kansas to Colorado is quite a trip...not fair for only one to foot the bill.....halfsies is fair.

  4. To be honest the judge can order that you meet him half way but if you tell him that it is a hardship on you and that you don't have reliable transportation and can't afford to drive or pay for them to get there then he can make him find a way to get them there and back

  5. I dont think the courts can order you to do that. Call a lawyer and ask though. Id say no though, it is his decision to move he should have to deal with this not you. That disgusting of your ex to choose a job over his kids. I know why your divorced now.

  6. get a good lawyer

  7. No they more then likely will rule for you to meet him half way.  It does not matter who has placement of the child.
