Can my friend Ashlea recieve financial aid or a large scholarhsip if her mother makes $40000 a year?

She is a single mother but has to work two jobs, and is engaged. The person whom she is engaged to though is very wealthy though. They currently live in a large mansion, but she calls it a 3-story house. Will this prevent her from getting any scholarships?

  1. When her mother marries, her husband's salary will be considered by many schools in awarding aid. She should directly each of the school she's interested i.

    If her mother owns all or part of their home and other assets that will all come into play at many colleges including most private colleges. In that case she would need to apply to schools that only use FAFSA, which are mostly state schools, if she wants aid.


  2. Ashlea may want to get her personal life in order before she considers borrowing money for school...just a thought
