Can my friend perform my wedding.?

Question

'm getting married next year and we want our best friend to perform the ceremony we've got him ordained but it was an american site so not sure if it'll be legal.Neither of us are religious and really just want a personal wedding with someone whom atchually knows and loves us. Please if anyone knows someone whom has had a wedding like this if you could let me know how to make it possible.
