Can my gift card be usable again after many years?

I have a Toys R Us gift card I got over 3 years ago.

I tried to check its balance at the website but it said try again later or along those lines.

So I can't tell if I can still use this gift card and put money into it anymore.

Same with my best buy gift card. I got it last May as a birthday gift, there is no balance anymore, so I was wondering if it's possible to deposit money into it again. A Birthday Best Buy Gift Card.

The best solution would be to go to the store where you got the gift card at and ask them. It all depends at what store you got the gift card at.

idk if this will help but some gift cards have expiration dates so you should just have a look the bottom of the card and see if theres one :]

most types of gift cards, as well as regular visa or mastercard gift cards, not only have an expiration date but also have fees taken out of the balance for not using them.  they call these service or monthly 'non usage' fees. and they will keep taking the fee until your balance is 0. so if you card is over a year old chances are it's dead.

sometimes after a while they lose value.

like i think a spencers gift card is good for a year, then loses two dollars of value monthly until the card is no longer usable.

go to toys r us, any cashier should be able to check the balance from their register.

Some gift cards expire and some don't. I work at JCpenney and our gift cards never expire.
