I live in a earth home so i have no windows in my room except for a skylight and i don't like to turn the light on because it is too bright so it is mostly dark in my room if i get a hamster will it die from lack of sleep because i will most likely have to put the cage in a dark spot in my room and there is no surface i can put the cage on under my skylight so can i put it in a dark spot and will it still sleep some time?

  1. I wouldn't put any of my hamsters in there. For one, it might get cold. Not keeping a light on is baaaad. Light means sleep most of the time, except if all the hammy has ever known is darkness. I suggest just leaving the hamster where it is at the moment.

  2. no your hamster will not die of lack of sleep... when it get's tired it will go to sleep and eventually get used to it.. however if you are keeping it in a hamster cage you can simply put a sheet on the top of the cage so it will be more comfortable.

  3. A Hamster will know when to sleep, whether you have a light on or not. I kept all of my hams in my room and at night I would sleep with lights on. They did just fine. As far as a cold room, when it gets cold you can put a blanket under the cage and around it, but make sure that the hammie can't grab the blanket and chew on it!

    Good luck!

  4. it does not matter whether it is light or dark, your hamster will sleep when it needs to, just dont over heat or under heat your room, for then it can die
