Can my husband recieve citizenship after we divorce?

i petioned for him and he recieved a green card based on our marriage. if we divorce i need to know if it affects his status.

  1. If he has the permanent green card, not the conditional one, then no.  If you get divorced within two to three years, the INS will make a determination as to whether the marriage was entered into in good faith.  If it decides that it was not, then he can lose his green card.  But early divorce does not cause an automatic cancellation of the green card.


  2. If he already has the green card then yes of course he can apply for citizenship as far as he follows the rules.
