ok i made a bebo page about a manager i worked for at a pizza hut and now they found out.. i used their name and sort of gave them abuse... he found out and said he has told the police. He said i will probably go to jail for 3-8 years. Is he talking **** or is he right? I'm only 16 so i can't see anything serious coming from it. What do you think? I did put up pictures of him and use his full name though.... am i ******?

  1. Yes your IP address can be traced and you could face harassment charges. But since your only 16 you may be put through the system, ya know, go down and answer questions about what you did and why you did it.

  2. yes they can track your IP Address! You need to think about what your doing before you do it. Sounds like your possibly gonna get in trouble. Do your parents know about this? Dont be suprised if you get a notice to show up in court if this old boss of yours made a report and presses charges for whatever reason he can come up with.

  3. Yes, the police can verify the IP address.  However, they will have to prove that it was you that was doing this.

Yes, you can get into trouble for posting pictures without a person consent.  You cannot get into trouble for putting a person's name on a website because that is public information.  Depending on what else you put on there, would depend on the charges.

  4. Can your IP be traced by police? Probably not. Mostly FBI will do that for murder cases. It is expensive and there is lots of paperwork involved in tracking IPs. Unless you killed somebody or are a terrorist, they will not.

And you WILL NOT go to jail, period. He is just trying to scare you 100%. Don't fall for it.

And it's not against the law to put up pictures and use his name. Even if you bad-mouthed him and broke the law, I highly doubt he would put up $5000 cash to get a lawyer and go to court to sue you.

Legally, they cannot touch you. If he called the police, the police would probably tell him to shove it because they have more important things to do!

  5. Relax he is just trying to scare you. Just don't go around flaming any more people on bebo.

  6. Most that he could do is sue for slander and/or libel.  That is a civil offense so there would be no jail time.  You might have to pay up if found guilty though.

Chances are low that you will find yourself in court for slander or libel anytime soon.

  7. yes the police can trace your IP and what is more with new laws regarding use and abuse of the internet you could get locked up for it, if you are charged as an adult, but if you are charged as a minor then your parents could get locked up for it,

    Don't drop the soap
