  1. They can't force you to work, but they can legally change the schedule and if you refuse to work when scheduled they can and probably will fire you.

If they just leave you a message and don't talk to you in person, and you just don't return the call, they won't know you got it.  But don't try that more than about once a year if you want to keep the job.

  2. Check your handbook to see if they have listed something like "The employer reserves the right to change work schedules.... work overtime and holidays." This would mean that they reserve the right to cancel vacations, call people in if work needs change. Unless you have something planned to do on that day why not call them up and see if you could work part of the day or something.

  3. That's why you need to own your own business all that drama is too much. They want to fire you cause you did not want to do what they asked you to do.They cannot fire you for that as long as you have paper work to prove you were not suppose to work that day,but heres the tricky part those scum bags will be mad cause you did not come in and they will use another excuse to fire you, such as you were late or something dum legally they can let you go for no reason. So it's best to go in until you get all the way on your feet, you know make yourself look good.

  4. If you are scheduled to be on call, you have to answer. If you  are scheduled off, and fulfill your other obligations- they should not be able to do anything to you- but it will reflect poorly.  They can fire you for other reasons, or pass you up for promotions or raises because you did not do all they asked.  But if you are not scheduled, and not on call, they shouldn't be able to do anything to you.
