  1. yes but they cannot kick you out Its for new tennants you are grandfathered in

  2. When your lease is up they can. Good luck!

  3. The landlord cannot change the contract after both parties have signed it, unless both parties meet and an agreement is made for the contract to be altered.

Providing you have not breached the contract in anyway you are able to take steps.

If you want to press the matter then speak to a lawyer.

  4. Under our provincial law, you can not discriminate against tennants because of pets.  Meaning just because someone has a pet - you can not refuse (or in this case kick out) the tennant. Possibly the case for you as well?

Did you just get the dog recently? If it's been there for some time, and no one has complained to you, than I wouldn't worry about it.  Talk to a lawyer if your landlord bothers you about it some more.

  5. The new rule will apply to you when you sign a new lease.  However, if you have been a good tenant, it's doubtful that the landlord wants to lose you, especially if there haven't been any problems with your dog.  Before you sign another lease talk to the landlord and try to get the lease provision modified.

  6. It's their property, I don't see why not.

  7. Yup, they can do whatever they want. They own it, not you. If they want to exclude all pets they can. If you don't agree, they'll just make ya move.

I am a landlord. It's like this, if you're employed, they don't need a reason to fire you, they can make one up. I'm just being honest. You want the truth? You can't handle the truth! Sorry, got off track. No really, if a landlord has certain rules, you have to follow them no matter what. Especially if they've made upgrade ie: new carpet etc.
