I have been storing things in my garage for 1 year now. per my lease agreement, now my landlord is moving into the house thats connected to property and wants me to move my storage stuff out to put their car and tent in there is this right? What should I do, they gave me a week to remove all my stuff.

  1. if it states in your lease that you can store your things in the garage then no he can not do that. you could fight it and probably win but be prepared to move after your lease is up

  2. If the garage is included as part of what you are renting then he has no right to ask you that.  He can change your lease but he has to let you know and give you the option to cancel if you don't like the new terms.

Look in your phone book or if you live in a small town then look in the nearest big city phone book and you'll see lawyers who offer first time free consultations.  Give them a a call and have a list of questions ready.

    Good luck.

  3. If your lease states the garage use is yours then he can't do anything until the lease expires, which is every month w/o one.   He would have to give you 30 days, not 7.

If the garage is not specified then it is a storage unit and not pat of what you are renting.   You use it as a courtesy from him and he can change his mind regarding a courtesy at any time.

  4. If the garage is specifically included in your lease, your landlord can't do anything until the lease ends.  It has to be specifically included in the lease.  Once the lease expires, the landlord can change the terms of the lease.
