Can my mother get approval for a 6 month stay in Basel, Switzerland ?

I plan to come to Basel for 1 year. I have a 9 month daughter whom i cannot leaqve behind in India. My husband would be working in India. Can iget my mother along to take care of my child when i am in office. How long a stay would be approved for my mother ?
